In Texas, there’s a unique state of being—when the heat slows down movements, glasses of drinks are always accompanied by the clinking of ice, and the day passes in sweet idleness. This very sensation is captured in the limited edition Sweet Do Nothing perfume by D.S. & Durga. It embodies the aroma of a slow summer day amidst desert landscapes: old water towers, dusty roads, cacti under the white sun, and hot air filled with the scent of dry plants and smoke. However, the composition is unlike typical desert fragrances with heavy dryness. It possesses a softness and even a lazy carefreeness. The desert here is not harsh but lively and warm: somewhere, an orange tree is blooming, figs are ripening, and the wind carries the scent of heated wood and creosote bushes after a brief rain.
Top Noteopens with honeyed-green neroli, which immediately meets a dry spicy accord of desert pepper. Cactus adds a distinctive green, slightly bitter, and sun-warmed hue, like the cut stems of cholla cacti in the middle of the Texas desert.
Heart Notesoftens and warms. Texas fig boasts a juicy, fruity-milky sweetness, orange blossom radiates a honey-citrus glow, and incense adds a subtle smoky shadow, as if the heat lifts the scent of scorched earth and old wood.
Base Noteis deeply atmospheric. Dry Texas cedar, watery musk, and creosote bush with its resinous-tarry aroma create the sensation of a summer rain just having passed over the scorching desert, leaving in the air the scent of wet dust, wood, and freedom.
